Caravan for Readers
Are you the sort of person who drives to work each day with National Public Radio? Do you gravitate to the programming offered through PBS or cable channels such as The History Channel, The Discovery Channel or Arts & Entertainment? If so, then we suspect you’ve got the makings of a Caravan reader.
The Caravan Project makes it possible for you to:
- Listen to these books, previously unavailable in audio, read by the author or a professional reader (several of whom have NPR resumes)
- Purchase only the chapter or chapters you need or want to sample from any Caravan book
- Acquire every Caravan title in a large print format.
- Continue supporting your local bookstore by purchasing Caravan books with the help of familiar and knowledgeable staff
The Books You Want to Read
The Caravan Project has created a partnership of publishers, booksellers and a leading wholesaler to bring you the intelligent, serious non-fiction books you value in the alternative reading formats many modern readers prefer.
Our participating publishers, distinguished small trade and university presses, bring you books in a wide range of topics: history, biography, current affairs, science, religion, politics/policy, environment, sociology, economics. And they make them available in traditional and non-traditional book formats so you can read or listen to the books you want, when you want to read or hear them, in the digital, audio or large print format you prefer.
Any Book Any Way You Want It
It’s pretty easy to find bestselling books in digital and audio formats. Large publishers with bestselling authors (think J. K. Rowling or Michael Crichton or John Grisham) have the budgets to create and market selected books in a variety of formats. Many smaller, but no less worthy, publishers of important non-fiction simply do not have these resources. The Caravan Project has made the availability of these books possible, for the first time, in e-book, audio and large print formats.
The Caravan Project is committed to changing the playing field for publishers of serious non-fiction and helping booksellers get these books into your hands. All Caravan formats are published and supported by the publishers themselves, who have overseen the quality of their content from start to finish.
You can get any Caravan book in each of these formats:
e-book Formats
All ebook formats allow you to purchase the entire book or chapters from the book. The ability to offer “granular” access to books will be of interest to students, travelers and others who want only part of a book. A by-chapter offering can be a valuable way to recommend a book without requiring the reader to purchase it immediately in its entirety.
